Organisation

I have asked each member to say when they are free and I have explored briefly into what I would like them to wear. On Monday 23rd January, the girls and I will be going out for a meal. I thought that this would be the perfect situation for me to begin filming. We will be going to 'Nandos' and I will ask for permission to film. I will post another plan for exactly what I plan to do.

Beginning the process of filming...

The idea of filming to me to very overwhelming. I have a fear that the video will ultimately look very cheesy and unrealistic. As soon as I begin filming I will know if I work well with my cast and if I know exactly what I am doing. As I am feeling slightly worried about my music video at the minute, my plan to get over this is to create a clear plan for my storyboard and to make sure I know exactly what I am doing and what I want my girl band to do.

Next Steps

My plan is to finish storyboarding my idea in more detail and to create a practice version of my video. I need to organize all four members of the band to decide on specific dates to start filming. I plan to give each of them a letter to explain what I would like them to wear. I want them to all co ordinate in some way but I have no properly decided what I would like them to wear yet. The letter will be along the lines of...

Thank you for agreeing to be in my music video. Your character is a woman aged ____ and named
______________________. Her personality is ________________ and I would like you to wear _________________________________________________________________________________

The letter will be different for each girl as they have different characters and personalities to portray through their movements and what they are wearing.

My Idea

This is a video to show a brief look at my main idea.

Focus Group Feedback

When watching the video of my focus group back, I had a list of things that I would change if I were to do it again. I would definitely change the age group as I had 11-12 year olds but my target audience is 14 and above. The girls were very helpful when it came to talking about colours and poses, but weren't very talkative when I asked questions about the video itself. When I asked if they had any ideas for what would look good in a music video, they didn't really respond. I learnt from this that older students or more mature students would be better to ask. I also thought that it would be a good idea to ask media students. They may have a completely different idea to what I have and their answer will be more mature and rounded off. I learnt from my focus group that for their age they would prefer bright colours and girly things. Knowing this, I want to produce photos that maybe have a more sophisticated or darker look and then ask people in my target audience range if they like this or prefer it quite girly like the younger girls.

Photoshoot Ideas

This is a picture of my photo shoot ideas.

Lyrics

These are pictures of the lyric sheets that I gave to each of my actors. I wanted to make sure that they had an idea of what part of the song they would be lip syncing too. This may change throughout the video but I plan to keep them around the same.

Trial Photoshoot

Below are the images that I have taken to practice working with my actors. I have tried to take individual shots and group photos.
 1) This image was just testing the camera and seeing what the quality is like. Looking back at the photo I actually really like it. It shows the girl and her personality through her make up, what she is wearing and from her room. I plan to do this for the other three band members as I think this will look really good.
 2) This is a group shot without the flash. They all look very smiley which creates a fun look about them.
 3) I prefer this group photo as the flash made the quality better and all the girls are posing rather than all smiling. IT gives more of an edge to them. The next time I take group photos I will plan the clothing better as I want them to be more connected through what they are wearing.
4)Before creating more group shots, I wanted to experiment with the girls in groups of two.
 5) I don't think that these photos are as effective as the group of four pictures.
6) I liked the idea of this shot, but I thought it would look more effective if all the girls were smiling with their teeth showing.
7) I really like this shot. I saw this in the video to the song 'hair' by Little Mix. I think that it shows that they are quite girly and is a stereotypical teenager shot.
8) This shot is very similar to the one before, but looks just as good.
9) I wanted to create single shots of each band member so that I can focus on how they look. After looking at this photo of Issy (Scarlett) the rebellious character, I realized that I wanted her appearance to be a bit bolder. I liked what she was wearing and hair.
10) This image is of Katie (Rose); the fashionable one. I think it has worked well because it shows her clothes and shows that she is fashionable.
11) If I were to redo this photo I would ask my model to wear something completely different. This is because her personality should be quite mature, but I feel what she is wearing could come across as more rebellious than mature.
12) This photo is of Lauren (Elizabeth). Her character is sophisticated and I think this shot does show that slightly. To make it look better I would ask my model to pose more than smile.
