My plan

As I have changed my idea I though that it would be appropriate to use the 'hair' videos I had created as practice videos. This means practicing with my cast, with the camera, lighting and with editing. This will allow me to plan out exactly what I want to film for my actual video. When working
with Meg I realized that it was really easy to say exactly what I wanted her to do. We worked well together as Meg found it quite a fun experience. Next time, I will do exactly what I did before but do a little more planning for the shots that I want. Although I had created a storyboard and planned out with meg before hand what I wanted her to do, during the process we both thought of quite a lot of new or better ideas. This was really useful as Meg is also a part of my target audience, so this way I knew exactly what she wanted in the video which would have acted as what my part of my target audience would have wanted in the video.

I have created a plan for the next couple of posts and I want to start filming for my new idea

- Post Little Mix videos- explain the shots I used and which ones I liked and which ones I didn't like

- Introduce my new character- Katie and Meg have two different characters. Katie is the singer and Meg is just an actress in the video. Take shots of Katie for Digipak and magazine advertisement

- Video Analysis of Haillee Steinfeld's song 'Starving'- focusing more on the target audience this time

- Video Analysis of Hair by Little Mix - talking about the shots that I like and what parts inspire me

- Storyboard for my new song

- A target audience video. Asking someone who is in my target audience questions about my new character and the sort of music that they like - video

- Filming Schedule, when I am filming with meg and when I am filming with Katie, these can both be at separate times as they are not in the video together

- Footage for my new video- A practice run of editing the footage together

About Alessia Cara

Incase the link doesn't work:

The lyrics and why I chose my new song

Here is an image of the work I did when looking at the lyrics. I wanted to focus on finding different ideas for each lyric as I wanted the video to link to some of the words. The song is about a girl who doesn't think that she is worth anything. I want to portray this at the start of my video and then gradually as the video goes on showing her feeling more confident about herself.

Here is a copy of the lyrics:

"Scars To Your Beautiful"
She just wants to be beautiful
She goes unnoticed, she knows no limits,
She craves attention, she praises an image,
She prays to be sculpted by the sculptor
Oh she don't see the light that's shining
Deeper than the eyes can find it
Maybe we have made her blind
So she tries to cover up her pain, and cut her woes away
'Cause covergirls don't cry after their face is made

But there's a hope that's waiting for you in the dark
You should know you're beautiful just the way you are
And you don't have to change a thing
The world could change its heart
No scars to your beautiful, we're stars and we're beautiful
Oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh
And you don't have to change a thing
The world could change its heart
No scars to your beautiful, we're stars and we're beautiful

She has dreams to be an envy, so she's starving
You know, "Covergirls eat nothing."
She says, "Beauty is pain and there's beauty in everything."
"What's a little bit of hunger?"
"I could go a little while longer," she fades away
She don't see her perfect, she don't understand she's worth it
Or that beauty goes deeper than the surface
Ah oh, ah ah oh,
So to all the girls that's hurting
Let me be your mirror, help you see a little bit clearer
The light that shines within

There's a hope that's waiting for you in the dark
You should know you're beautiful just the way you are
And you don't have to change a thing
The world could change its heart
No scars to your beautiful, we're stars and we're beautiful
Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh
And you don't have to change a thing
The world could change its heart
No scars to your beautiful, we're stars and we're beautiful

No better you than the you that you are
(no better you than the you that you are)
No better life than the life we're living
(no better life than the life we're living)
No better time for your shine, you're a star
(no better time for your shine, you're a star)
Oh, you're beautiful, oh, you're beautiful

There's a hope that's waiting for you in the dark
You should know you're beautiful just the way you are
And you don't have to change a thing
The world could change its heart
No scars to your beautiful, we're stars and we're beautiful
Whoa-oh-oh-oh, whoa-oh-oh-oh, whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh
And you don't have to change a thing
The world could change its heart
No scars to your beautiful, we're stars and we're beautiful

I chose this song because I could potentially only have two people in it; the singer and the one with the storyline. It is also a much slower song so it will allow me to experiment more with editing. I feel that the song will have a lot more meaning to it than 'Hair' did and I feel a lot more confident with it.

My change of idea

Organising 5 different people at once was very difficult so I completely changed my plan of action. In this audio I am explaining my change of idea and how I wish to improve on my work.

Video Analysis- Bruno Mars - Uptown Funk

I discovered that a main aspect in this video was the sexualizing of women. At the beginning the opening shot was of a woman's legs. Throughout this video you do not see the women's faces apart from one woman in the salon but she is not seen as a sexual object because she is not desired by the other male characters. Another thing that I learnt, was that using both narrative and performance work really well together. This has inspired me to use both in my own video.
